About the program

Darren delivered a blended learning course for the IOSH Behavioural Safety Leadership Certificate for 12 delegates, virtually within Yondr over 2 weeks. The range of attendees varied from people starting in their safety career to experienced project directors and safety professionals. Feedback from our team was that the course was engaging and thought-provoking. The skills learned by the team is a positive step toward enhancing the safety culture within Yondr. I would not hesitate in approaching Darren, Linda and the team in future training needs within Yondr.
In the last two to three years, I would say we’ve focused our safety training on being very practical. Now, we want to drive behaviour changes and make sure safety is even more embedded in the culture of our organisation.
That’s why we chose this training program. There’s only so far you can go with teaching the basics. To move safety forwards, focusing on behaviour and performance is the critical ingredient – it’s way more than reporting. All of our department heads, managers and supervisors have been through this program, which is around 64 people. The feedback has been phenomenal and is manifesting into real tangible results.
I worked with Darren for the first time when I was working for Sodexo in the UK. We were at a point when the incident performance was ‘flatlining’ and whilst the safety culture was good I would struggle to say it was ‘interdependent’. The course Darren delivered then for us inspired the team and flipped the way we thought and felt about safety performance There was far more engagement and people were happy to engage with safety – a real culture change. The H&S team are inspired as they are giving positive messaging and we are developing a module on leading safety for our overall leadership training program.
Darren has helped change the way that many of the senior people in our organisation think about safety. The impact of his training has gone beyond the health and safety arena by challenging the business leaders to think about the way they approach leadership in general.
